Question:
How does drug treatment for obesity affect my other medications?
Medicines from the group of GLP-1 analogues such as semaglutide, liraglutide or dulaglutide have basically no effect on other medicines. However, we do not treat people with diabetes who take insulin or the older so-called SU preparations. If you are on these drugs and are interested in treatment, you can then discuss it with your diabetes doctor. Many who lose weight with the new medications can eventually reduce their blood pressure medications and can sometimes avoid painkillers and other medications.
