Until now!

Women's health

We understand the the physical, mental and reproductive health changes through the different stages of life and offer a bespoke package based on the patient’s individual needs.

PCOS
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) affects 5-10% of all women, with symptoms such as multiple cysts in the ovaries, irregular or absent periods, and increased hair growth - signs of high testosterone levels. Common symptoms include weight gain, difficulty getting pregnant, absent menstruation, acne, and mental health issues. Symptoms often begin in puberty.

Menopause
During menopause, many women experience weight gain, partly due to hormonal imbalances and age-related factors. Losing weight can be more challenging, but weight loss can help alleviate menopausal symptoms. Yazen provides guidance and support in this process.

Hypothyroidism
One in ten British women seeks medical care for thyroid problems, most commonly low metabolism (hypothyroidism), which autoimmune diseases, nutritional deficiencies, and stress can cause. 1-2% of Brits, mostly women, are treated for hypothyroidism, often occurring during menopause or after childbirth. Weight gain can be a symptom. Yazen offers assistance with weight management through medical treatment and lifestyle changes.

Lipedema
Lipedema, a chronic condition that primarily affects women, causes painful fat deposits on the hips, thighs, lower legs, and arms. Symptoms include tenderness, pain, a feeling of heaviness, and fatigue during exertion. Treatments can alleviate but not cure the symptoms. Slow, sustained weight loss can reduce pain and heaviness. Yazen can help!

Frequently asked questions

Below we list the most frequently asked questions about our service. If you have other questions or concerns, please contact us and we will help you.

Which medications do you use for weight loss?

We prescribe the very latest weight loss injections (known as GLP-1). Prescriptions are based on individual assessment to determine the best treatment.

Do I have to take weight loss injections for the rest of my life?

When you stop taking the injection, the results can be reversed meaning you have to start your weight loss journey again. However, it’s not dangerous to stop taking the medication and start again if you notice that you begin to gain weight.

Once a healthy weight is reached, some people, who have achieved an energy balance through lifestyle changes (including diet and exercise), may be able to stop taking the medication in certain cases. Yazen offers a loyalty pricing plan for those who choose to commit long term.

Who can receive medication for overweight/obesity?

Weight loss injections are recommended for people with a BMI of 30+ or 27+ with certain pre existing medical conditions including high blood pressure, elevated blood lipids, elevated blood sugar, atherosclerosis and sleep apnea syndrome.

The medications can also be used to maintain weight loss achieved through dieting or weight loss surgery.

What side effects may I experience?

Because it is the body's own hormone that is used, which has only been modified to slow down its breakdown, the side effects are few and mild. In the larger studies that have been conducted, the side effects are relatively similar between  test groups taking placebo and test groups taking medicine. Side effects are most common at the beginning of treatment, which is why the initial dose is low and increased slowly.

You may experience nausea, gas, and diarrhoea, mild gastritis, or constipation, but with the support of a dietitian, most symptoms can usually be avoided.
