Sustainable Weight Loss: How Patients Save Money with Yazen

New data proves sustainable weight loss delivers significant savings for patients.

A pan-European survey of 1,350+ Yazen patients reveals a "health dividend" where effective obesity treatment offsets its own cost. By addressing biological cravings, patients save an average of €109 on food and €50 on healthcare monthly. Findings show a natural shift away from snacks and takeaways toward nutrient-dense, mindful consumption.

Beyond the Scale: New Data Shows Sustainable Weight Loss Delivers Significant Financial Savings for Patients

LONDON – [April, 2026] – While the health benefits of modern obesity treatment are well-documented, new internal patient data from Yazen reveals a significant secondary impact: substantial monthly cost savings for patients. As the global conversation around obesity often focuses on the price of medication, these findings suggest that effective, holistic treatment actually strengthens household budgets by transforming long-term consumption habits.

The data, drawn from a pan-European survey of over 1,350 patients, highlights that treating the biological drivers of obesity leads to a natural reduction in spending across several key areas, from groceries to external healthcare needs.

Meaningful Monthly Savings

For many patients, the investment in their health is offset by a reduction in daily living expenses. On average, Yazen patients report:

  • €109 average monthly saving on food.

  • €50 average monthly saving on medicine and healthcare (excluding weight-loss medication).

These savings are not the result of restrictive dieting, but rather a byproduct of Yazen’s integrated medical and lifestyle approach, which addresses the root causes of cravings and "food noise."

Shifting Consumption Habits

The survey results provide a detailed breakdown of where patients are seeing the most significant financial relief. By regaining control over their relationship with food, patients are naturally spending less on high-cost, low-nutrient items:

  • 63% spend less on snacks
  • 43% spend less on takeaways
  • 36% spend less on eating out
  • 35% spend less on groceries
  • 6% spend less on other healthcare/medications

"These insights challenge the media narrative that obesity treatment is merely an added expense," said Martin Carlsson, Associate Professor, Consultant Endocrinologist, and co-founder of Yazen.
"By treating the biology of the disease, we see a sustainable shift in behavior. Patients aren't just losing weight; they are reducing their reliance on processed foods and secondary medications, creating a 'health dividend' that benefits both the individual and the broader economy."

Holistic Health, Better Budgets

The financial data supports Yazen’s core philosophy: obesity is a chronic disease, not a character flaw. When patients receive the right combination of medical treatment and multidisciplinary support—including doctors, dieticians, and psychologists—the resulting lifestyle changes are both natural and enduring.

Beyond the wallet, 77% of patients report feeling emotionally better, and 65% have more energy, reinforcing that the value of treatment extends far beyond the numbers on a scale or a bank statement.

A Seismic Shift In The Hospitality Industry

"We are witnessing a fundamental shift in how people relate to food, and the hospitality industry is beginning to take notice. In both the UK and the US, particularly within high-end and 'thoughtful' dining establishments, there is a clear trend emerging: the rise of the GLP-1-conscious menu. As more diners utilise these weight-loss medications, their biological relationship with portion sizes and cravings changes. They aren't looking for less flavour; they are looking for high-quality, nutrient-dense options in smaller, more manageable portions. In response, many chefs are beginning to prioritise the nutritional science of their menus - intentionally cutting back on refined carbohydrates while focusing on protein and fibre to ensure every bite provides maximum value,” said Tristan Welch, Chef and Culinary Concept Consultant.

About the Research

This research surveyed over 1,351 active Yazen patients across Sweden, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, and Denmark, with data collection completed in January 2026. Results underwent standardised statistical analysis and independent medical expert review. The study aims to advance understanding of real-world outcomes and patient experiences with contemporary weight management treatments.

Our unique model combines modern medicines, continuous digital care, your own doctor and support from a full care team consisting of a health coach, dietician, psychologist and physiotherapist. Research shows that this holistic model produces better and more sustainable results than medication alone.

More than 57,000 patients are currently undergoing treatment and a total of 47,000 patients have lost over 720 tons together.
